ELOÁ GONÇALVES TRIO

In collaboration with Luis Oliveira (drums, Brazil) and Tobias Steinrück (bass, Austria), the trio led by the Brazilian pianist/composer Eloá Gonçalves presents a blend of sonorities that walks between the freedom of jazz, some references in classical music and Brazilian music.

The trio is releasing its debut album “Casa”, under the Austrian label Alessa Records, supported by the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Graz (KUG)  and the city of Graz - Austria.

The album "CASA" has been mentioned and praised by the jazz critics in renowned magazines around Europe and North America such as Downbeat Magazine (USA), Concerto (Austria), Jazz'Halo (Belgium) and Kulturní Magazine (Czech Republic).

It also features the special guests Karel Eriksson on trombone (Sweden), Laura Zöschg on vocals  (Italy), Mathilde Vendramin on cello (France) and Jaka Arh on tenor saxophone (Slovenia).

Eloá Gonçalves TRIO have been performing both in the bandleader homeland Brazil and in Europe, in jazz clubs and festivals such as Unterfahrt Jazz Club (Munich/Germany), Jazz im Generalihof Festival 2021 (Austria), Steyr Jazz Festival 2020 (Steyr/Austria), Jazzwerkstatt Graz 2019 (Austria), and Savassi Jazz Festival 2017 (Belo Horizonte/Brazil).

In September 2020, Eloá Gonçalves Trio has been chosen as finalist of the Central European Jazz Showcase, an event realized in partnership with JazzFest Brno (Brno/Czech Republic).

In 2022, Eloá began to lead her trio in Brazil as well, alongside two of the most sought-after musicians in the jazz scene in São Paulo: Paulinho Vicente (drums) and Iury Batista (acoustic bass).

" I think that everyone has a way of feeling ´at home´. That could be a place, someone´s company, a smell or a taste. For most of my life making music has been what makes me feel that way. It´s through music that I've had the opportunity to meet people, places, discover new flavours, smells, colours and to know myself, not only as a musician but as a human being. I hope that you, just like me, through the music you´ll listen here, also feel at home".

(Eloá Gonçalves).
